[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Asura
Age: Physically looks like he’s 28, though he’s actually over thousands of years old.
Gender: Male
Canon: Asura’s Wrath
Timeline: Before he lands the finishing blow on Chakravartin in episode 22.

Background: Here! (Note: The 12,000 and 500 years later sections are also part of the history)

Personality: As the inherent demi-god of Wrath, it’s no wonder that Asura is a hot-tempered being. Even back in the days before he became a general, it was pretty obvious how much fiery rage he had during his time as one of Augus’s pupil and when he fought against the monstrous Gohmas. Anytime he gets riled up whenever someone has caused some suffering, be it to him or anyone else not involved, he will literally stop at nothing until he destroys his target, whether they’re gods, weaker soldiers, or a boss’s mooks. Anything that gets in his way and tries to stop him, he won’t hesitate to annihilate them. There are a few things that can quell him (i.e. The village girl that shares his view about gods), and even then, it’s only temporary before he flares up once more.

This ties in to another aspect of his nature: his stubborness. Asura isn’t much for hesitance, so he barrels in without a second thought and completely disregards whether or not he’ll be killed in the attempt to do so. Ironically, it’s only apparent when he’s with someone who is calm and tends to think more logically (like his brother-in-law, Yasha); otherwise, he does actually take time to think about things when he’s not in battle. Naturally, he also refuses anyone that tries to help him, as he feels like it would be taking advantage of them and doesn’t want to value himself over someone else, so he prefers to do it himself. It ties with his view on gods; to him, they’re beings that should never have existed, as they only take and never give in return, and after what he saw and went through, one can’t blame him for thinking so.

But, for what it’s worth, Asura is actually the most noble and good-hearted person, compared to other characters from his world. He’s seen what humanity has been put through and hates to see them suffer from the whims of others, so he cares greatly for the safety of innocent people. And, as one of the enemy soldiers has observed in an interlude, he does go out of his way to avoiding civilian casualties in his line of fire. Even if he’s consumed with so much fury that’s enough to slowly destroy himself, he still maintains enough sanity to discern between an enemy and a human/civilian demi-god. To him, it not only does it go against his morals to hurt them, but he believes that killing people not involved for any reason (even if it’s for a good reason) is never the right thing to do, and thus it’s why he targets only the cause(s) of suffering (such as when he tried to destroy Chakravartin in Episode 22 for putting the people of Gaea and everyone else through so much heck, all just to find a heir to rule Gaea).

His family is no exception to his care as well. Oddly enough, Asura can be quite fatherly too and it shows in his relationship with both his wife and his daughter, as they are the only people with whom he’d ever let his guard down. Even if he does bumble a bit and gets embarrassed whenever they tease him, it’s clear that they love one another. They’re also part of the reason why his wrath is pervasive, as he’s fiercely protective of both and would do anything, even if it means having to sacrifice his life.

That isn’t to say that he can’t be approachable, as he can still manage to make friends. Asura is rather gruff and stoic, and outside of battle, he doesn’t talk much, so it does take time for him to warm up to someone. It depends on the type of person he does befriend, so for some others, he can be a bit argumentative and spar with them sometimes (i.e. His relationship with Augus and Yasha before becoming a general). Either way, once he does manage to open up, he’s...well, he’s still socially awkward, but in the very least, he will at least be more protective with them (as is the case with him and the village girl in the 2nd part of the game). He takes betrayal seriously too, so if someone manages to betray his trust in anyway, then they are immediately on his hit-list for life, lest one’s bond with him is something akin to his and Yasha’s, in which case, Asura will still beat them up, but he will forgive them too.

All in all, Asura is wrathful being, yet in a different way than one might expect, and underneath all that anger is the heart of someone who still has the capacity to be empathetic to others.

Why is your character a good fit for the setting of Soul Campaign, and what will they do once they are in the game? While Asura isn’t too keen on having to serve someone on a higher authority akin to god-like status and will more than likely throw a huge fit at first, he will still want to help protect and save innocent people no matter what.

List the abilities your character will still have in Soul Campaign: Asura will still keep his experience of physical combat (i.e. hand-to-hand), as well as his endurance, strength, and stamina, and agility.

List the weaknesses your character will gain (or lose) in Soul Campaign: He will still get overly angry, and since he won’t have the Mantra Reactor to handle his rage, it will take a toll on him by straining his soul. He’ll also still have his sucky social skills.

[ MEISTER ]

Soul Description: Vengeful, protective, wrathful, stubborn, strong, and tempered; Asura’s soul is fiery orange-red that glows brightly whenever Asura himself is angry. Its face pretty much almost always has a glare and a frown, and it bears the strange markings found on Asura’s face from his canon form.

Ability:

-Soul Rage

First-Person

[Greetings, citizens of Death City! You’ll have your screen graced by Asura’s appearance as he turns on the video feed.]

Hey. [He looks rather embarrassed and awkward and his eyes start shifting in any direction when he glances around.] Does anyone know where to find a great- [He stops, as if something catches his eye.] Hang on a sec.

[Asura doesn’t bother turning the communicator off, and immediately shoves it in his pocket. The sound of tromping can be heard, followed by burly screaming, a few thwacks here and there, and a shrill, high-pitched screech that immediately dies down. The heavy footsteps start up again and a few minutes after, they stop once Asura pulls out his communicator again, his appearance is a bit more disheveled this time, along with a few flecks of blood on his cheeks. Even more odd is how he looks nonchalant now, right down to his tone when he starts to speak again.]

Sorry, just had to help an old lady get back her purse. [cough] Anyway, where’s a place to find great tea? And I mean the regular kind, not the weird ones with those bubbles.

Third-Person

“But...you will still live.”

With those parting words, he ran past Mithra. Even if he wouldn’t survive with all the Mantra being gone, he was fully prepared to give up his life. He wouldn’t have to see his daughter suffering anymore, and that was enough for him. Once he got close to Chakravartin, he readied his fist and took aim as he prepared to land the final blow on the loathsome creator...

...except it never came. Before Asura knew what had happened, he was suddenly shrouded in darkness.

“No...” he muttered, as he looked around frantically. All the mantra he had before seemed to have disappeared, and left him as nothing more than a powerless human. His eyes strained to see if his adversary was here as well, though the only thing he could make out was the faint outlines of a structure and a strange door. “No, not again...!”

His anger shot up, and in an instant, he screamed. Wherever he was, and how he got here, he didn’t know. All he knew was that everything he had struggled for to save his both his daughter and humanity up to this point had now seemed to have been wasted again.

But, it didn’t mean that he would give up just yet.

“DAMN YOU, CHAKRAVARTIN!”, he yelled to no one in particular. “YOU’RE NOT EVENING GOING TO COME OUT THIS TIME?! YOU’RE MORE OF A COWARD THEN I THOUGHT YOU’D-”

Asura suddenly stopped when a ringing broke out through his rage-fueled yells, and quickly searched all over his body to find the source of the noise, before he pulled out a strange device. Strange. He didn’t ever remember having this with him before. But, it seemed to be flashing, so once he turned it on and got filled into what was going on by Spirit-

Well, in the very least, it made Asura slightly less calmer. Keyword: slightly.

“Tch, this better not be another damn trial! If it is, I will have Chakravartin’s, yours, and your supposed Lord Death’s head, and I will make them roll in hell for all eternity!” he hissed, before he shut it off and ran to find the exit. Even if Chakravartin wasn’t here, who knows if there was another like him for this world? In any case, Asura knew that he had another road ahead of him, one much more difficult this time around.
